Diesel engines make carbon black and wear particles that adulterate their lubrication systems. These stuffs are often sub-micron and create premature wear to engine oil. A by-pass filter, the centrifuge typically in operation of 10% oil supply from oil pump. Combine this with a conventional full-flow filter and have a cost-effective solution for reducing wear, extending lube life and reducing soot emissions. At service intervals the rotor is cleaned, and thereby reduction in waste disposal and consumable costs, reducing the ownership cost as well.
Centrifugal Oil Filtration - Principle of Operation
The oil is fed from a pressure point on an engine through the side Centrifuge inlet. When pressure of oil exceeds 1.3 to 2.5 BAR, the plunger with spring loaded will be pushed back and the oil gets into the rotor assembly through central spindle. The assembly becomes pressurized, and two tangentially opposed nozzles at the base are the exit point for the oil. There are two bushes for rotor assembly – one at the bottom and one at the top, freely spins around the spindle. The oil exiting through the nozzles yields a reverse direction spin. Here the RPM is directly proportional to inlet pressure. Under gravity the oil is returned back, through the central hole at the base of centrifuge.
At a pressure of 5 BAR, the RPM made for a model LC50 is 7400, creating centrifugal force 2000 times that of the gravity. Therefore, any particle heavier than the oil is compacted onto inner rotor wall. At preset intervals, this can be well cleaned with the aid of a wooden spatula. The centrifuge has zero consumable parts, and is competent in removing sub-micron particles from the oil. Make sure that the minimum operating pressure is at least 4 BAR, and it should not exceed 7 BAR. Optimal results are accomplished at 5 BAR pressure.

Value of Removing Carbon Soot by Using Centrifuge
Centrifugal force is capable to remove a broad range of particles widening into sub-micron range.
